THE GOOD, THE BEAUTIFUL, AND THE TRUE

The Parable of the Healer and the Afflicted

In a certain land, there lived a person of great wisdom, known among his people as a healer. His fame spread far and wide, for he had the gift to ease the suffering of those afflicted by diseases of both the body and the mind. Yet, he was humble and spoke not of his own power, but of a higher truth that guided his hand.

One day, a man stricken with a grievous illness came to the healer. His body was weakened, and his mind tormented by fears and doubts. He cried out, "Why has this befallen me? What wrong have I committed to deserve such pain?"

The healer, seeing the man’s distress, spoke gently to him, saying, "Your affliction is not a punishment, but a signpost. It points to a deeper truth within you, a divine potential that has been twisted and turned away from its true purpose. Disease, whether of the flesh or of the spirit, is but a shadow of the good, the beautiful, and the true. It is a reflection of the soul’s striving to express its divine nature."

The man, puzzled by these words, asked, "How then can I be healed? What must I do to rid myself of this torment?"

The healer replied, "First, lift your eyes from the darkness of your affliction and seek the light within. For the true Healer dwells not in herbs or potions, but in the soul itself. As long as your gaze is fixed upon your suffering, it will bind you. Yet, if you turn your sight inward toward the divine spark within, love takes the lead and healing begins. The soul, when recognized, will guide the healing force, and all will be well."

The man, though still troubled, nodded in understanding. He then asked the healer, "But what of you?  How do you possess such power to heal others?"

The healer smiled and said, "I am but a vessel. The art of healing requires more than knowledge; it demands purity of heart and life. A healer must cleanse his own soul, striving for a purity that links the centers of his being to the higher realms. When this purity is achieved, a magnetic field is established, and from it flows a radiance that dispels darkness. This radiance is not mine, but the light of the divine that passes through me. Only in this way can true healing be accomplished."

The man, inspired by the healer's words, resolved to seek the light within himself. He left the healer's home with a renewed spirit, and in time, he found that as he turned his gaze inward and upward, his affliction began to fade. The healer's words had planted a seed, and from that seed grew the strength and peace that restored him to wholeness.

And so, the people of that land learned that healing is not merely the removal of pain, but the awakening of the soul to its true purpose. They came to understand that disease, in its essence, is a call to return to the divine, and that the greatest healers are those who guide others to that sacred place within.
